Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

The fourth installment of D3's line of budget-priced Sci-Fi Arcade-style shooter. Insect Armageddon features online and local co-op mode whilst also sporting a new Swarm survival mode of wave-based combat. Insect Armageddon will allow you to attain over 300 weapons during your battle against the colossal alien insect swarm.

Plot

Setting

EDF Insect Armageddon unlike the previous Japanese installments of the series, will not be taking place across a wide variety of settings in Japan. Instead EDF Insect Armageddon will be based in the metropolitan city of New Detroit in the United States. New Detroit will be a completely destructible city, allowing players to once again to raze a whole city to the ground in the fight against the colossal alien insect swarm, killing thousands of innocent people and making it unclear what exactly the creators think the word "Defence" means.

Multiplayer

EDF Insect Armageddon will feature a fully-fledged online experience, with up to three-players cooperating in the campaign mode and up to six-players in the new swarm based survival mode over Xbox Live or PSN. After many a complaint and worry by fans of the previous installments of the EDF franchise. Vicious Cycle announced, that EDF Insect Armageddon will also feature the option for local split-screen co-op gameplay like its Japanese predecessors.

Weapons

Over 300 weapons will be attainable in EDF Insect Armageddon. These consist of assault rifles, rocket launchers, energy weapons, sniper rifles, grenade launchers and many more.
Pesticide Gun - The Pesticide Guns will do a gigantic amount of damage over a large radius area. The guns are Tier 8 Weapons, meaning you will have to put alot of time in to the game to attain these. These guns have a one shot reload for each of them.
Pesticide Cannon - For the Trooper Armor.
Pesticide Mortar - For the Battle Armor.
Pesticide Missile - For the Tactical Armor.
Pesticide Rifle - For the Jet Armor.

Armour

EDF Insect Armageddon will allow for far more character customization than just simply your weapon choice like its predecessor. As a part of this, Insect Armageddon will be featuring four unique armour-sets that the players can choose between, each with there own strengths and weaknesses. All the armors gain levels and earn abilities the more you use them. You can focus on one armor to maximize it, or jump into different armors depending on the make-up of your co-op group, they all level independently.
Trooper - The first armour option will be the standard trooper armour - similar to the Storm 1 units in the previous installments. This armor option has access to more weapons than any other armor and also has some really nice upgrades that will make him essential in a group.
Battle - The second armour option present will be the heavy battle armour, this armour will allow the players to utilize the most powerful weapons. The battle armour also comes equipped with an energy shield and the ability to bug-zap enemies or alternatively, when you get too crowded by enemies, you can blow your entire energy pool in an EMP like electric blast that damages everything around you. These advantages that the battle armour possesses are negated by more limited maneuverability in terms of speed.
Jetpack - The third armour option will be the Pale Wing-esque jetpack option, brought back from EDF 2 in to Insect Armageddon by popular fan demand. The jetpack armour not only has the ability to fly, but also uses energy to replenish its weapons, the way Pale Wing did. It’s fast and agile, but very fragile, too.
Tactical - The fourth armour option will be the strategic tactical armour, this armour will allow the player to deploy strategical assets, like turrets, mines and radar dishes. As the player advances in levels, they will gain access to new turrets as well as new gadgets.
